Introduction

On these pages problems and their solutions are discussed for the ATI All-in Wonder Radeon Cards.

My experience with these graphic cards have always been good. However there are a few point in the software that could have been designed a little better and easier to use.

Mainly the TV-Tuner and Capture functionality can be a pain to set up. The ATI Multimedia Centre (MMC) is fine to use (once it works) however setting up the channels is a pain in the b*t. Besides this, some versions of DirectX can give problems with PAL tunes which are used in Europe.

This page was initially designed as a reference for myself in order not to forget my tips and tricks that I found or found out myself.

Some basic information:

ATI has been making very good graphics cards for years. I myself started off with an ATI All-in Wonder 128 (Rage 128 chipset) AGP. At the time I owned a Pentium 350 MHz and the card fitted well in my Asus P3V4X main board. However when I upgraded to a Pentium IV on a ASUS p4S533-X main board the ATI card no longer fitted in the AGP slot due to a voltage incompatibility.

After some time of wrestling with a PCTV Pro and a Geforce4MX440 (which resulted in poor TV-out and capture results) I finally came back to ATI. In my tinker PC I have a ATI All-in Wonder Radeon 7500VE (PCI) ant in my Home Theatre setup (HT-PC) a ATI All-in Wonder 9000Pro (both from Club3D). All the information on these pages were tested with these two cards. Both in combination with a Creative Soundblaster Audigy.
